1st day of school

Well the day has finally come... both of my kids are in school. It's been a very bittersweet event for me.

Riley Jo is so excited to be in school. She is really liking it so far. Dustin has already begun the countdown until Christmas break. I honestly thought that if one of them was to have an issue with adjusting, that it would be Riley. I was wrong. She is doing great. Dustin on the other hand, doesn't want to let go of his school days at HP. He is always comparing the 2 and not too willing to give this school a chance. So the last few days have been a challenge for him, although I think Friday was alot better because him & I made up a little game in order for him to go make new friends:)

The school they go to, Sunset School, is a very nice school. There are 18 kids in Dustin's class and 16 in Riley's. The school district is building a brand new school to replace this one. I guess there are some structural issues. It sounds nice, kind of a bummer though because just as they get the layout of this one learned, they'll have to start all over again next year.

The 2nd day of school....

I got a call about lunch time on the 2nd day of school from the school nurse. She informed me that Riley had fallen off of the monkey bars and has a FAT lip. She reassures me that Riley is ok, just told me to be prepared.....

This girl is going to a handful:) And I thought that Tater was the one who was gonna keep me on my toes.

My latest project

New Adventures....

We started our new adventure in style....with a blown tire on the trailer! Thankfully, that was the only trouble that we had. Matt and a friend took 2 loads down over the weekend with no problems, then Matt, the kids and I headed for Wyoming on Tuesday morning with 1 trailer full, 1 horse, 1 dog and a car full of stuff! Tater thought the blown tire was neat. He was just laughing at me and Chester (the horse) standing in the bar ditch, just watching:) In no time, Matt had the new tire on, and off we went.....

Welcome Home

Well we've been here 3 weeks and are officially settled in. The house is nice. Kinda small, but nice. There is a new wood floor in the kitchen and fairly new carpet throughout the house. We are sitting at the base of Carter Mountain, at about 6000ft. The wind is always blowing and when the sun disappears, it gets cold. We only have 1 small bathroom so that is a big adjustment. The kids have left every morning to go explore and play, I see them at lunch, then they're gone again. Needless to say, they really like it and are having no problem adjusting:)

Another adjustment is my kitchen... it's tiny. Really tiny. But I'm sure in time I'll get used to it. Oh... no dishwasher :(

BUT....the view from my living room window makes up for everything....

Learning to ride her bike

Riley Jo finally decided that she wanted to learn how to ride her bike, but she insisted on getting a helmet and knee pads, so once we got those, we were off.


She did GREAT!!! Although she doesn't think so. It seems like the more encouraging I do, the less she wants to do it. Can you say STUBBORN?!?!



Here's a short clip of her riding her bike. She rode for about 30 minutes, doing a really good job, although hasn't been back on her bike since.....

More adventures..

There's a small creek that is right next to the house and it didn't take long for the kids to find it. There are 4 other kids out here, 3 of which are middle school and high school age (aka babysitters:) and then there's 1 little boy who is starting kindergarten this year. So these three have had fun the last 2 weeks...


A little cold?

The bank of the creek consists of sand. Nice soft sand. So naturally, my daughter had to bathe in the sand. It's nice because there isn't a sandbox in the yard so the kids load up the dump trucks and road equipment, in the wagon and down to the creek they go...
