Yellowstone Park

We finally made it over to Yellowstone Park this summer! We ended up making it a weekend get-away and headed up to a cabin just outside of the Park on a Saturday afternoon. We got to the cabin just a couple of hours before dark, so we didn't get to do a whole lot, but we built a fire and cooked out and had s'mores, then after dark, we headed in and played some card games. it was so fun! On Sunday, we headed into the Park and the kids wanted to do the big loop, so we weren't able to get out and walk around a lot, but we did make it to Old Faithful. The only wildlife that we saw were buffalo. A small herd crossed the road right in front of us.

Overall, I think we all agreed that the Park was a big disappointment. We can go up in the mountains here by the house, and see more wildlife, and less tourists!! We all agreed that next time we want to get away, that we will just do the cabin for a weekend and do some hiking and fishing!!

New Toys...

I can't believe that this summer is almost over with:( Seems like we only had a few weeks of summer-like weather this year, so we spent as much as we could outside. The kids got a trampoline this year and it has been a lot of fun for all of us;)

Dustin finally got his dirt bike that he has been saving for!! It's a little smaller then I was expecting, but it's a great first bike! Doesn't have too much power! He has built a track in the small pasture right behind the house and will go out there and ride. He is already practicing his jumps and wheelies. He had his first crash and when he told me about it, he was almost proud!?!

Riley Jo LOVES going for rides with Matt on his dirt bike. He says she always wants to go faster! She is now known as the 'dirt bike diva'!

Dustin's 10th Birthday

It's hard to believe that I have a 10 year old son!!! Seems like just yesterday he was such a little guy. this year he just had a few friends over and they set up the tent and camped outside and played! I think he had a great time ;)

I have learned that boys can not have too many knives...

We framed a few of the pictures of his first steer ride this summer...he really liked it!

Matt and I got him a helmet for the day when he gets his dirtbike, and low and behold, there was one sitting in the front yard!!

I really wish he didn't have his helmet on so you could see the look on his face, but you can still tell that there is one happy boy under the helmet!!

BOOM...you're dead!!!

Even though I didn't manage to get any good pictures or videos of Dustin riding, I did manage to get this video of him getting shot!! This was one of the clowns little shows and Dustin and his buddies got called into the arena. The boy can play dead pretty good! LOL

Rodeo Days

This summer, Dustin tried his hand at steer riding. Unfortunately, I don't have to many pictures because I was too busy cheering him on. He did pretty good. He rode a handful of times and as much as I hate to admit it, he had a knack for it. I think it was his 4th ride, he got stepped on. He still rode the next night even tho he was in some pain. It did take him a lot longer to give the nod that evening. I know he was scared, but I am so proud that he got back on.

One night, the kid who rode before Dustin, got hung up. That was a horrible feeling watching and knowing what could happen. The clowns finally got him out and he walked away okay. After vacation, Dustin told me that steer riding "isn't my thing". After winning state archery, he realized that he is GOOD at archery and wants to concentrate on that and he doesn't want to chance hurting his arm. lol. That is OK with his momma ;)
