Rodeo Days

This summer, Dustin tried his hand at steer riding. Unfortunately, I don't have to many pictures because I was too busy cheering him on. He did pretty good. He rode a handful of times and as much as I hate to admit it, he had a knack for it. I think it was his 4th ride, he got stepped on. He still rode the next night even tho he was in some pain. It did take him a lot longer to give the nod that evening. I know he was scared, but I am so proud that he got back on.

One night, the kid who rode before Dustin, got hung up. That was a horrible feeling watching and knowing what could happen. The clowns finally got him out and he walked away okay. After vacation, Dustin told me that steer riding "isn't my thing". After winning state archery, he realized that he is GOOD at archery and wants to concentrate on that and he doesn't want to chance hurting his arm. lol. That is OK with his momma ;)

Dang Deer...

So...we pull out of our place about 9:30 one evening, headed to Nebraska. I drove to Alliance, about 8 hours, then we switched and Matt drove. Just as I was drifting to sleep, we hit a deer!!! UGH!!!

Things could have been a lot worse! The deer pretty much bounced off. He could have gone under the wheel or even up and thru the windshield. The most important was that no one was hurt. The car was still drivable so I was able to take it to a shop at home. I just like to give Matt a bad time cause it happened when he was driving! hehehe

Gone Fishin'

We can't make a trip to Nebraska without a little fishing ;)

Now I know where Matt gets his serious face from when someone tells him to smile ;)

One Happy Pa ;)

Today Riley Jo went to Matt and asked him if she could shoot Dustin's BB gun. Matt got the biggest grin on his face and very calmly said "sure".

Riley Jo had a great time and said that she wants to do more shooting:) She may need a gun that fits her better tho! She informed me that there is a little pink camo bb gun in town...I think she was giving me hints! lol

Rainy day fun

Dustin had one of his friends over the other weekend, and even the cold and rain couldn't keep these two boys inside!

Zain is Dustin's new best friend and the 2 boys get along great. Zain rides steers in the Cody Night Rodeo and now Dustin is convinced that he needs to give it a try! The rodeo just started last night and Matt is busy AI'ing for the next week, but when Matt is done, he will take Dusty in and let him give it a try! So stay tuned for updates and pictures hopefully!

Until the rodeo starts, they'll just have to make do with Matt as the steer!

Even Riley Jo had to get in on some of the evenings events!

One last piece of advice from Zain...

I'm happy to report that there were no broken bones or major injuries this go-round!! LOL

Future Super Star

Riley Jo had a friend over the other night and she informed me that when she grows up, she wants to be a super star! She even has a "super star walk"! It is too darn cute!

When Matt saw the pic above, he informed me that he's gonna need more guns!!! She is definitely outgrowing her little girl stage!

Like Father Like Son

I'm putting it on the record now that I think when Dusty grows up, he's going to be a mechanic and/or farmer. This boy LOVES tearing things apart just so he can put them back together! Working on or driving a tractor, pickup or any piece of equipment, just puts him on cloud 9!
